Housing Starts Down in Barrie

Still Above Average

Housing starts are down in Barrie. The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation says starts in the city were down just under a hundred units to 2150 in November. It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to the CMHC. “The trend in Barrie CMA total housing starts decreased in November, due to declining trends in starts of all types of dwellings. Although the trend of total starts was down in November, it remained above its average of the last two years, given the large number of apartment starts in the recent past,” said Abdellah Massaoudi, CMHC’s Market Analyst for Barrie.
