How Much To Curb Climate Change?

May be less than initially thought

The cost of curbing climate change may be $13 a month for the average household. According to a draft report obtained by the Toronto Star, the Ontario government’s cap and trade plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions calls for a 4.3 cents a litre hike at the gas pumps and a $5 a month increase in natural gas bills starting next year. This compares to costs of between $48 and $107 a month if a carbon tax plan was put into play. Ontario expects to cut 18.7 megatonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.
