Hundreds Killed, Injured In Hajj Stampede

Such stampedes not out of the ordinary

A stampede outside the Muslim Holy City of Mecca, during the annual Hajj pilgrimage, has left more than 700 people dead and hundreds more injured. It happened in area where there have been stampedes in the past; where pilgrims carry out a symbolic stoning of the devil by throwing pebbles against stone walls. They also spend the night camped out in 160 thousand tents.
