Impersonating An Officer Charge Laid in Orillia

Suspect Allegedly Lied To Get Money From A Teen

An alleged police impersonator has been charged by the real thing. Around 10:00 Saturday evening, Orillia OPP were tipped off about a man in a pickup truck speaking to a young woman. Police say the driver stopped a 15-year-old girl on Dufferin St. and told her she owed him money, and claimed to be a police officer. Investigators claim he tried to get the girl into his pickup but she refused. Officers caught up to the suspect, and a 24-year-old man will be in Orillia court in early November to answer to an Impersonating an Officer charge.
