Job Rate Down in Barrie, Up Elsewhere

Federal Jobless Rate Took A Hit Over Provincial Losses

Barrie’s jobless rate is trending downwards again. We saw month after month of increased unemployment in Barrie through the spring and summer, now the rate is trending downwards again, and is down three tenths of a percentage point to 6.6 per cent. Meanwhile, big job losses in Ontario last month; 33,800 jobs lost, which meant little movement for the provincial rate, it’s down a titch to 6.8, but severe enough to affect the national rate. Despite tepid gains in the federal job market, Canada’s unemployment rate rose to 7.1.
