Legacy Monument To Be Unveiled Today At Base Borden

Mayor of town near Vimy, France to attend

As many as five-thousand people – including Prime Minister Trudeau and the mayor of Arras, France (just south of Vimy) – are expected at the unveiling today of the Legacy Monument at Base Borden. Local communities pitched in on this to honour and pay tribute to the two-million Canadians who have trained at Borden in its first 100 years. Part of today’s ceremony will include having soil from Vimy France, where thousands of Canadians gave their lives during World War I, incorporated into the Legacy Monument. There will also be a parade on Mill Street in Angus to the Base.
