Magic Mike is becoming a Mermaid! Hot!

Channing Tatum is to play the mermaid in a remake of 1984’s film Splash, taking the role played by Darryl Hannah, according to reports.  The original film saw Tom Hanks play a man saved from drowning as a boy by a mermaid, who he meets 20 years later.  The original film’s director Ron Howard is set to produce the film, along with Tatum.  The film, a rom-com about whether the man will chose to remain on land or join the mermaid in the sea, was nominated for an Oscar for best original screenplay.

Anton Yelchin’s parents have filed court documents indicating the “Star Trek” actor died without a will and left behind a nearly $1.4 million estate.

Court records show Victor and Irina Yelchin filed to become administrators of their son’s estate on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The actor died on June 19 when he was crushed by his Jeep Grand Cherokee in the driveway of his Studio City home.  The filing states Yelchin left behind at least $641,000 in personal property and had $731,000 in equity in his home.  Yelchin’s parents announced Monday, through their lawyer that they are planning to file a wrongful death lawsuit on Tuesday against Fiat Chrysler, which made the Jeep that killed their son. The actor’s vehicle was subject to a recall because the gear shifters have confused drivers, causing the vehicles to roll away unexpectedly. The SUV was part of a global recall of 1.1 million vehicles by automaker Fiat Chrysler in April.

Kesha has dismissed a California lawsuit alleging hit-making producer Dr. Luke sexually and emotionally abused her, but a similar case will remain in play in New York.

Monday’s dismissal of a Los Angeles case comes amid an effort by the singer to get new singles and an album released despite her high-profile fight with her former mentor.  Her attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, said the dismissal was filed so she can focus her legal efforts in New York, where she has also sued the producer alleging he frequently ridiculed her, among of things for nearly a decade….  Kesha’s career has been in limbo since she first sued Dr. Luke in October 2014, alleging his abuse caused her to develop a severe eating disorder that required her to enter rehab.
