McDonald’s UK Is Phasing Out Plastic Straws

So how are we to drink our fountain pop?

There’s nothing better than a fountain pop from McDonald’s…. Until now. McDonald’s has announced it will be phasing out plastic straws from its UK restaurants. McDonald’s has been working hard on their recycling program and says all its packaging will soon be recyclable.

Instead of plastic straws, McDonalds UK which has roughly 1300 locations will be using paper straws starting in May.

It will also be trying out a scheme where straws are kept behind the counter and only given to customers when they ask for it.

For what it’s worth, their plastic straws are recyclable, but most end up in the garbage.

The UK alone uses around 8.5 billion single-use plastic straws each year.
