Melissa McCarthy will become the first female to receive the MTV Comedic Genius awards on Sunday night during the MTV Movie Awards…..Melissa isn’t the only big name to land a special honour. Will Smith will pick up the MTV Generation Award in celebration of his Hollywood legacy. The 25th annual MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.

A Toronto-based gospel choir got a taste of show business Hollywood-style this week when they performed at a film shoot for an upcoming action flick starring Samuel L. Jackson and Vin Diesel. Sharon Riley and the Faith Chorale, a 13-member choir based in the Greater Toronto Area, was selected to be featured in the action film “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage,” which is currently being shot in Toronto. The Juno-Award winning choir shot their scene at a downtown Toronto church on Tuesday. What they didn’t know ahead of time was that they would be singing with Diesel, too. (ctvnews.ca)

A New York judge has thrown out pop star Kesha’s hate-crime and human-rights claims that producer Dr. Luke drugged, sexually abused and emotionally tormented her. State Supreme Court Justice Shirley Werner Kornreich ruled Wednesday that the singer can’t go forward because the alleged rape and abuse happened outside New York and beyond the legal time limit. But the judge said the lawsuit can proceed on Kesha’s contract issues.

The LAPD has opened a criminal investigation against Charlie Sheen. While the LAPD spokesperson could not confirm the nature of or the victim in the investigation, several reports claim that Sheen made threats against the life of his ex-fiancee Scottine Ross. There is speculation about an audio tape on which Sheen is heard offering murder for hire…. The LAPD did confirm that authorities obtained a search warrant in the case. Sheen also allegedly admits in the tape that he lied to a sexual partner about his HIV status. In late 2009, Sheen was arrested on domestic abuse charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his then-wife Brooke Mueller.

Aerosmith are on a brief hiatus now as Steven Tyler gears up to promote his upcoming country album… After Tyler does about 30 solo shows, he could be back with his band for a farewell tour….Tyler told Rolling Stone, that in 2017 we go out with Aerosmith. We’re probably doing a farewell tour. Look, there’s two bands that still have the original members, us and the Stones. I’m grateful for that. Whether we do a farewell tour or go into the studio and do another record, I’m just excited about it.”
