Midland OPSEU Members Priming For Job Action

Public Service Union, Town Continue To Work Towards Agreement

Members of the Public Services union in Midland are preparing for job action, while the town is staying optimistic. The Town of Midland and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union have been at the bargaining table since mid-June, but OPSEU says they’re filing all the paperwork needed with the Ministry of Labour to put themselves in legal strike position. Once the paperwork is processed at the Ministry, both sides have 17 days to reach a deal before job action can begin. The town points out their success in negotiating with other unions in Midland, claiming a new collective agreement can be reached before the deadline. The town is stressing many of Midland’s services would be unaffected by any potential labour disruption.
