No Postal Disruption, Not Today

Talks extended for 24 hours

The Canadian Union Of Postal Workers has put off any job action for 24 hours after Canada Post agreed to a mediator’s request for an extension of talks. The union had planned to begin a series of rotating work-to-rule campaigns today – in the form of refusing overtime – in Alberta and Northwest Territories. The two sides have been deadlocked for months on the issues of pay scales for rural letter carriers and proposed changes to pensions for future employees. A federally appointed mediator was brought in Friday.
