North End Barrie Bridge To Be Demolished

Ten Hour Road Closure Needed To Take Down Highway 11 Overpass

An old bridge over the 400 is coming down. Now that the new Highway 400 northbound overpass at Highway 11 is complete, they have to demolish the old one. That means the MTO will have to close off Highway 11; road crews will begin closing lanes around 11:00 Saturday evening, with everything expected to reopen at 9:00 the next morning. That’s a mere 10 hours to tear down a bridge! Demolition experts have it down to a science however, take a look at the video below to see how Priestly Demolition tackled the 11th Line Overpass over the 400, back in June of this year.

The MTO will detour traffic along the 400, Forbes Road, or Penetanguishene Road for the duration of the closure.
