OMB To Decide On Burl’s Creek Expansion

Use Of Restricted Land At issue

A decision on whether to allow Burl’s Creek to use currently restricted land for special events has been taken out of the Township of Oro Medonte’s hands and dropped in the lap of the Ontario Municipal Board. Burl’s Creek has filed an appeal with the OMB on the matter. It had been waiting for the township to respond to its application to use 344 acres of land for purposes other than agricultural. Township Council had been waiting for reports from staff and others before dealing with the application. With the OMB involvement, the township no longer has jurisdiction in the matter. As such, a Special Council Meeting regarding Burl’s Creek, scheduled for October 21, has been cancelled.
