UPDATE: Man Hurt In Retirement Home Fire Has Been Charged With Arson

2:30pm – The Barrie Police Service says the 79-year-old man taken to hospital has since been charged with Arson with Disregard For Human Life, and Damage To Property

6:30am – Barrie Fire officials say sprinklers and staff training helped keep injuries and damage to a minimum last night when fire broke out in a room at Woods Park Care Centre on Lillian Crescent. One resident treated for smoke inhalation; several rooms were evacuated as a precaution. Barrie Police and the Fire Marshal are investigating.
