OPP Unveil New Mental Health Strategy
Strategy Said To Benefit Both Officers and Public
Provincial Police have a new tool in their belt to be used in response to mental health needs. Today, Commissioner Vince Hawkes launched the OPP Mental Health Strategy: Our People, Our Communities. They say it is designed to improve the response to the mental health needs of not only the public at large, but also OPP members. The new Mental Health strategy promises to do this by tackling a list of priorities including expansion of mental health training for officers, improved data collection, and increased referrals from police to mental health services.
