Orillia Brownfield-Turned-Rec Centre Garners National Award

255 West St. Rec Centre Earns Brownie Award

Orillia City Hall has something to crow about, after a long debated development bagged a national award. The Orillia Recreation Centre project at 255 West St. has won the 2016 Brownie Award from the Canadian Brownfield Network. The brownfield redevelopment award recognizes projects that rehabilitate sites that were once contaminated, under-utilized, or undeveloped. The rec centre on West St. was debated for years before the groundbreaking ceremony in late September, with completion expected in the summer of 2018.
