Mid July Fire Reveals Lack Of Smoke Detectors

An Orillia property owner is in hot water, after a fire on Matchedash St. revealed some infractions. Fire crews got the call to this fire on July 15th, arriving to find thick, black smoke coming from the home. After the fire was taken care of, it was determined there were no working smoke detectors in the home at the time of the blaze. The property owner is on the hook, with Orillia Fire saying the fine could range from $235 to $50,000.
