Over A Hundred Charges Laid In Back To School Safety Blitz

Barrie Police Blitz Catches Speeders, Distracted Drivers, Others

Barrie Police have done their homework and say around 140 charges were laid in the first week of Back-To-School. Charges varied from Speeding, and Distracted Driving, to Driving Under Suspension, and Impaired By Drugs. Some folks may have to pay out hefty fines, after officers say they stopped two vehicles exceeding 80km/h in school zones. All this comes through the Barrie Police Service’s Project Safe Start, a road safety initiative running the first week of September. The program is designed to educate and bring awareness to motorists and pedestrians of the need for safe school zones.
