Parents Dead, Barrie Man Charged With Collecting Their Government Cheques

Parents died in 1998

A 75 year old Barrie man has been charged with Fraud, accused of collecting his dead parents social security cheques – more than $200,000 worth since their deaths in 1998. The U.S. government started investigating this in 2012, when the mother and father would have turned 100, wanting to confirm contact and address information. That led them to police in Toronto, and in turn to Barrie where the suspect lives.
