Power Bill Relief Promised In Fall Throne Speech

Lieutenant Governor Opens Fall Session of Legislature

The Speech from the Throne comes with promises of relief on your hydro bill. The Liberal Government today announced Ontario’s 8% slice of the HST would be taken off electricity bills. That should balance out to about $130 in savings a year on the average Ontario household, while rural homes could save $540 a year with this new plan. This is a 180 from nine months ago, when Ontario scrapped the Clean Energy Benefit that provided a 10 per cent reduction on electricity bills. The Throne Speech opened the fall session of the legislature, and also came with a commitment to create another 100,000 child care spaces, and more emphasis on grade school math classes to after a steady decline in test scores of late.
