Province Announces Poverty Reduction Plan In Alliston

$230,000 Investment to curb poverty among newcomers

The Province is trying to tackle poverty in the county. This morning, Deputy Premier Deb Matthews was in Alliston to announce the Local Poverty Reduction Fund, it’s a three year, $230,000 investment going towards helping the County of Simcoe provide specialized training to Employment Ontario staff, with aims to better serve Simcoe’s growing immigrant population. They expect this program to help newcomers to the region find sustainable employment in Ontario, and avoid slipping below the poverty line.
