Province Says New GO Stations Coming To Region Ahead Of Board Meeting

Transportation Minister Announces New Stations Before GO Transit Board Gives Nod

Three new GO stations could be built in our area soon. Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca announced in Newmarket this morning, the province will build one GO Station each in Innisfil, Newmarket, and Vaughan, along the Barrie-Union line. The thing is, this decision isn’t a done deal; the stations they’re building still need to be approved at the Metrolinx Board of Directors meeting early next week. Additionally, the sites still have to go through all the proper checks and balances, including environmental assessment and design work before they can even break ground. A call to the Transportation Minister’s office  to get an explanation for the early announcement has yet to be returned. Yesterday we told you the Town of Innisfil suggested the 6th Line be the perfect site for a new GO station.
