Scammers Now Pretending To Be Cops

As more and more people start catching onto the ways and means of scammers, the scammers are digging further and further into their bag of tricks. South Simcoe Police says they’re getting calls about people dialling-up residents claiming to be specific South Simcoe officers – rattling off officer’s names – demanding payment of supposed tax arrears and threatening arrest if payment is not made. Let’s be clear, police have enough to do without acting as a collection agency for businesses.
