School Board Approves Site Plan Suggestion And Teachers Agreement

New Site Plan Aims To Appease Council

No need to go back to the drawing board on a south end school just yet. Last night the Simcoe County District School Board voted to approve the idea of submitting a revised site plan to the City of Barrie in lieu of council-suggested arbitration. The board will submit a plan that has a school on the south side of the property at Mapleview and Prince William, along with a multi-use facility on the north. The city months ago shot down the original idea of having a school on the south of the property, saying the city’s South End Master Plan calls for the building to be on the north side of the property. Also at last night’s school board meeting, the board ratified the agreement reached with the local OSSTF bargaining unit. The Secondary School Teachers have yet to vote on the matter.
