Seaworld has bowed to public pressure. It says the current generation of orcas at its parks will be the last, ending its controversial breeding program. The marine park has been criticized for its treatment of killer whales. “SeaWorld has been listening and we’re changing. Society is changing and we’re changing with it,” the company said. “SeaWorld is finding new ways to continue to deliver on our purpose to inspire all our guest to take action to protect wild animals and wild places.” Noting a growing number of its visitors don’t believe orcas should be in human care the Seaworld has announced it will partner with the Humane Society of the United States to advocate for ocean wildlife protection.
