Second Canadian Hostage Executed In The Philippines

Robert Hall had been held captive since last fall

Prime Minister Trudeau says he has reason to believe Robert Hall, who had been held hostage in The Philippines last fall, has been executed by his captors. Hall, of Calgary, was among four people kidnapped from a seaside resort. Another Canadian, John Ridsdel, was executed in April. There had been a deadline of 3pm today – local time – to pay a $16.6M ransom for the three remaining hostages (the others were a Filipino and a Norwegian). Local authorities say a reward of $1.4M, from Hall’s family, had been rejected by the captors.
