10-Year Sentence For Drunk-Driving Crash North Of Toronto

A Newmarket judge has sentenced 29 year old Marco Muzzo to 10 years in prison and banned him from driving for 12 years in the drunk-driving deaths of a grandfather and three children last fall in Vaughan. The Crown had been seeking a 1o-12 year sentence; the defense had recommended eight years. In handing down the sentence, the judge cited the impact on the family of the victims as being monumental and ongoing. She also noted while Muzzo showed an irresponsible attitude toward driving – pointing to past speeding infractions – he did plead guilty, accepting responsibility and has shown remorse. The judge called it a “terrible decision made by a good person.”
