Simcoe County Helping Newcomers Ease Into Their New Lives

Pilot project underway at local libraries

In hopes of making newcomers feel more at home, especially immigrants, Simcoe County has launched what it calls a Library Link project to help them access materials in different languages. It will also put them access local community information and referral support. “We are grateful that the Government of Ontario has funded this tremendous initiative that will ultimately help newcomers further integrate into our communities,” said Warden Gerry Marshall. “As a County, we are leading a number of creative and impactful programs that further open our region to immigration, skilled labour and ultimately support our economic, social and community growth.” Libraries in Barrie (Painswick branch), Bradford, Innisfil, Midland and Wasaga beach are taking part in the program.
