Stabbing In Downtown Barrie

One man at hospital; one in custody

A 26 year old man is at RVH nursing a stab wound after an altercation early this morning at 186 Dunlop Street. Barrie Police say they were called about the stabbing around 5am. As they were pulling up, they saw a man run from the scene to a building at 145 Dunlop Street where they say three people were held against their will until an arrest could be made (no weapon was used; the hostages were not hurt).  A 42-year-old man has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault with a Weapon, and Breach of Probation. The victim remains in stable condition at RVH. Police say the victim and accused were known to each other.
