Just another reason why Canadian’s Rock!

Elise Boissonneault plans to get married this weekend in Toronto. Everything was going to plan until a wildfire burned through her home of Fort McMurray in Alberta, destroying her wedding dress along with the bridal shop where it was bought.

Elise and her fiancé were evacuated to safety, thankfully!  The couple decided not to let the fire ruin their big day. They decided they’d go ahead with their wedding this weekend, and Elise took to social media to see if she could find a new dress.

Following a social media campaign led by her friend and wedding photographer Alex Neary, hundreds of strangers offered to loan and donate their wedding dresses, while bridal shops said they’d be happy to lend Elise a dress. Elise eventually went to LeeAnn Belter Bridal, who lent her two gowns for her wedding day – one for the ceremony, one for the reception.

The Now newlyweds plan to return home to Fort McMurray when its safe to do so to help rebuild their community! Clearly, they won’t be alone in their efforts!
