Taxes Up 3% In Tiny Township
Average property owner will pay $40 more this year
Despite significant increases in policing and insurance costs, Tiny Township Council says it has been able to keep this year’s tax increase to a minimum, while maintaining – and in some cases improving – levels of service. The 3 per cent increase will mean a resident whose property is assessed at $250,000 will pay an additional $40.25 in municipal taxes this year. Mayor George Cornell said, “Township Council, guided by our recently completed Strategic Plan, approved a budget that is both responsible and forward looking. We now have a long-term plan which will guide all of Council’s decision for the remainder of the term. The 2016 budget provides funding for a number of our strategic priorities.”
2016 Budget Highlights include:
- Continued emphasis on community engagement
- Funding for volunteer and senior programs
- Promotion of local economy
- Advancing major beach park master plans
- Beach enjoyment strategy including a Township-wide parking strategy
- Improvements to infrastructure
- Support of environmental stewardship programs
- Update of the Official Plan
