Emergency officials raise red flag

Snow banks around the region are the highest they’ve been all winter, and are pretty enticing for kids to climb on and tunnel through. Emergency officials hoping parents will have a talk with their kids about the dangers associated with with such – about tunnels collapsing and sliding down banks into the road. Drivers are urged to extra vigilant as well.

Environment Canada has heard from its weather spotters around the region. Collingwood may have the highest snow banks after 43 centimetres of snow fell during this week’s storm. Alliston dug out from under 38 centimetres. Midland and Phelpston got 36 centimetres, Orillia and Muskoka 32 centimetres and
Barrie 31 centimetres.
