SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE

A 20-year-old Bradford man is charged with Trespassing At Night after a a citizen called to report a prowler in his neighbourhood. On Wednesday, July 11, 2018 around 1:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a man loitering around cars and entering backyards in the Maplegrove Ave. and Fred Cook Dr. area of Bradford. An officer who arrived on scene began checking the area and noticed a pick up truck that appeared to have been entered and a door left open. A second officer observed a number of motion activated lights on in several backyards. At 1:30 a.m., police located a man matching the caller’s description walking on Collings Ave. near Fuller Heights Park. Officers smelled an odour of alcohol and arrested the man for being intoxicated in a public place. He was taken to South Division where upon further investigation, he  was charged with Trespassing At Night and ticketed for public intoxication. He was eventually released from custody with a future court date.

Summer is the season for crimes of opportunity making it even more important to secure your homes and property. We had two separate calls on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 for thefts from outside homes overnight. A red, stand up paddle board that was left in a side yard in Innisfil was stolen. In the second case, an unlocked pink and purple youth mountain bike vanished from a Bradford home. The thief left a black mountain bike in poor condition in place of the stolen bike. A great way to see if your home is as safe as possible is to conduct your own security review via the Government of Ontario’s Home Security Audit.
