The Voice of Freddie Mercury Revealed
Rami Malek plays Freddie in the new movie, but doesn't sing.
The Queen Biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, comes out November 2nd, starring Rami Malek as the incredible Freddie Mercury. (See trailer HERE) While producer Graham King knew, from the moment he saw him, Malek was the perfect person to play Mercury, there was just one issue: Malek can not sing like Mercury. Ok. Let’s be honest here, there are not a lot of people who CAN sing like Mercury.
BUT, there’s one person who sounds exactly like him: Canadian Marc Martel.
About Martel’s voice, King tells Rolling Stone, “Literally, you could close your eyes and it’s Freddie. And that’s a very tough thing to do.”
You probably know Marc Martel, the man whose audition was heard around the world. He has since gone on to make a solo album and stars in the Ultimate Queen Celebration touring show.
For the upcoming movie, they use Queen master tapes and vocals by Marc Martel for the singing scenes.
