If you’re one of those people who slips on a comfy pair of socks before drifting off to sleep, you’re in luck, because it turns out wearing socks in bed is good for you – and could even lead to better sex.

Warming your feet causes the blood vessels to widen, which gives the brain a sign that its time to sleep…

Not only do socks in bed help your sleep, they could also help your sex life.

A University of Groningen study found that, when provided with socks to wear, brain scans showed 80 per cent of couples were able to reach orgasm (full coziness faster), compared to just 50% who would take a lot longer to get warm without socks.

A word of warning though: don’t be tempted just to leave on the socks you’ve been wearing all day,

If you wear socks too long, bacteria can build up in and lead to fungal infections, and fungal infections have never been a turn-on for anyone.
