Flood Warnings Across Simcoe, Muskoka, and GTA

90 MM Of Rain Expected To Fall Through Saturday

Rain, rain, seems like it’s here to stay. It’s been raining in the region long enough, authorities are concerned of flooding. Both the Nottawasaga Valley and Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authorities are at heightened alert over flood waters, while the Township of Ramara reports several rivers in its area have crested. Both The City of Barrie and of Orillia tell our newsroom that crews are ready to respond to any flood concerns within city limits. The Town of Gravenhurst is keeping an eye on some problem areas, adding free sand and sandbags are available at three locations: end of Joseph Place, Cowbell Lane, and the Municipal Works Yard on Crawford Road.

As if the heavy rainfall hitting Toronto wasn’t going to cause enough problems for commuters, the city is warning that the Don Valley Parkway could be closed Friday afternoon as the threat of flooding looms. The city is on high alert, with the possibility of Toronto Island being evacuated as rain persists.
