A Mother of two from Toronto says we need to scrap a long running Birthday Party tradition, the party loot bag. Saying, parents need to keep the “pound store crap to themselves.”

Her point is: “let’s teach kids about making the birthday child feel good by being there to celebrate with them. After all, that’s the point of a birthday party, not, what the attendees are leaving with.”

Sure, the pieces from these bags end up scattered around the house within a day and the loot bags are an added cost to hosting a party but I love seeing each child be all smiles with their gifts-to-go.

Would you do away with the loot bag??
