Turkish Government Back In Control After Attempted Coup

Military leaders stripped of duties

More than 161 people were killed, 14-hundred wounded and 28-hundred members of the military detained as a result of last night’s attempted coup in Turkey. The Turkish government calls it a “dark stain” for Turkish democracy, blaming it on a parallel terrorist organization run by Pennsylvania-based Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen. He denies any involvement saying, “I condemn, in the strongest terms, the attempted military coup in Turkey. Government should be won through a process of free and fair elections, not force.” Turkey’s president says those involved will pay, some already have – 29 colonels and five generals in the military have been relived of their duties.
