Wasaga Beach Councillor Steps Down Over Staff Recommendations

Issuing of Leases To Local Businesses Said To Be Motivation

An eight year member of the Wasaga Beach council has stepped down. Last night Ron Anderson announced his resignation from council over issues he had with recommendations to committee. He reportedly made it clear he’d resign if two senior staff were not relieved of their duties over these recommendations. Mayor Brian Smith said the issue was with the granting of two leases for downtown establishments, but wouldn’t comment on which staff members were involved. The seat will be declared vacant at council’s next meeting, after which they’ll decide how the seat will be filled; by-election, appointment, or recruitment.
