Agreement With Ministry Of Natural Resources Means Local Government Now Responsible For Beaches
Wasaga Beach may have more events on the go soon, now they’ve got control of their beaches. The Town of Wasaga Beach has reached an agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources, handing control of Beach Areas One and Two over to the municipal government. This is the end result of months of negotiations between the two, and officials say this means for enhanced special events, reintroduction of lifeguards, and possible business opportunities. The town will work with the Ministry over the summer to find out what work is needed to care for these beaches, before staff report back to council for a plan of attack in 2017.
