Watch: Trailer For “Mamma Mia 2” Released
Here We Go Again
It’s been nearly 10 years since Mamma Mia was released in theatres, and if you’ve been itching for a sequel the wait is almost over.
The trailer for Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again has been released. The trailer has a few fans online upset, as it seems like Meryl Streep’s character Donna may have been killed off. In just the first few seconds of the trailer, Tanya and Rosie tell a pregnant Sophie (played by Amanda Seyfried) that “your mother is the bravest person we ever met.” Later, Sophie talks about Donna as if her mother’s no longer there. The footage of Streep in the trailer is all from the 2008 original.
The movie — which goes back and forth between the present and the past — will tell the story of Donna, but with Lily James stepping in to play a younger version of the character.
Universal won’t confirm whether Streep’s character has passed away.
