Weapons Charges Laid At Barrie Mall

Police Say Four People Were Threatened With A Knife After Tending to Dog

A Barrie man is looking at weapons charges after some children reportedly tended to a dog. Around noon yesterday, Barrie Police got the call to the Bayfield Mall with reports someone was threatening people with a knife. Investigators say three boys, aged 11 and 12 had been caring for a dog tied up and shivering outside a coffee shop at the mall. The boys and a coffee shop clerk had even given the dog some water. Police say when the owner returned after an extended period, he took exception to his dog being touched, so he took off and returned moments later with a knife. The employee and three boys immediately called 911, and police were able to locate a 24-year-old suspect nearby. Nobody was hurt, but the suspect was due in court this morning.
