I can’t believe how many articles I’ve read over the last couple of weeks that were absolute s#@&! No, I mean it, they were all about ‘poop’…goose poop that is. It’s taken over our waterfront. I know we may disagree on what should be done going forward with Barrie’s waterfront. I still favour more development…boardwalk, shops, restaurants, etc., and you may like a place to walk your dog, but at least you “poop & scoop”…I hope you do. But none of us is able to enjoy the parklands/waterfront when it’s inundated with goose droppings. I was talking with someone from Vancouver the other day, who mentioned that they have the odd coyote sighting in the parks there, which seemed a little unsettling, but they don’t have a goose problem *wink*. I don’t think we want to introduce coyotes to the marina, but what can we do? If there was more reasons to go down to the waterfront, if you don’t have kids or pets…or a boat…then perhaps the increase human presence would be enough to deter the birds from setting up shop. Anyway, no matter the approach, something has to be done, or the name may have to be changed from Centennial Park to “Skid” Row. Geese are winning the Barrie/Goose Poop battle
