🍂 NOVEMBER 2026: THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Published November 2, 2026

📅 NOVEMBER 2

Daylight Saving Time recovery day, unofficially. 😴
The clocks went back Sunday, November 1, so Monday is basically Canada's annual experiment in convincing ourselves that an extra hour of sleep fixed everything.

Veterans' Week begins in Canada, running from November 5–11.

🎬 FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6
The Cat in the Hat! A new animated Dr. Seuss movie arrives in theatres, with Bill Hader voicing the Cat. Quinta Brunson and Bowen Yang are also among the voice cast.

Spice Girls – The Singles Collection

The box set is loaded with B‑sides, original sleeves and long‑lost recordings from the vaults, released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic 1996 debut Spice. The collection arrives on November 6, and will be available as two limited‑edition 14‑disc box sets on 7" colour vinyl and CD. Each version comes with brand‑new messages from all five Spice Girls

🇨🇦 WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11: REMEMBRANCE DAY

A particularly important date locally. Barrie's Remembrance Day service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Fred Grant Square, with Barrie Pipes and Drumsparticipating. Barrie Pipes and Drums

🚽 NOVEMBER 19: WORLD TOILET DAY

Yes. It's official. Theme: "Safe toilets. Equal futures." The vital connection between clean, safe sanitation and gender equality.

🎬 FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20: HUGE MOVIE DAY

🔥 The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

Probably the biggest movie event of November.

The new Hunger Games movie arrives November 20 and follows young Haymitch Abernathy, decades before Katniss Everdeen's story.  This one should have strong millennial interest because The Hunger Games franchise is now firmly in nostalgia territory, which feels rude but accurate.

🥊 I Play Rocky

The movie about Sylvester Stallone's struggle to make the original Rocky expands wide around November 20.

🎅 SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21: HUGE DAY IN BARRIE

This is probably the biggest local date to circle all month.

🎅 77th Barrie Santa Claus Parade; The Barrie Chamber of Commerce presents the parade beginning at 5 p.m.

The 2026 theme is:

🍭 HOLIDAY SWEETS & TREATS

The route begins at Tiffin Street and Lakeshore Drive, heads north along Lakeshore, up Toronto Street and east along Dunlop before ending at Poyntz Street.

There's also a Santa's Fireside Gathering at Centennial Park beginning around 4 p.m., with food trucks, a fire pit and bleacher seating.

🎄 Noella Tree Lighting Celebration

After the parade reaches downtown, the action moves to Meridian Place. The celebration includes live entertainment, the Christmas tree lighting and fireworks over Kempenfelt Bay/Heritage Park. The November 21 festivities are scheduled from 3–8 p.m.

🌲 Rotary Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees also returns around the waterfront/downtown area as part of Barrie's holiday celebrations. Barrie Chamber

Basically, November 21 is the day Barrie collectively says, "Fine. It's Christmas now."

🎬 WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25: MOVIE BONANZA

🎥 Focker-in-Law

Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro return to the Meet the Parents universe, with Owen Wilson also back.

🛍️ FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27: BLACK FRIDAY

While traditionally American, Black Friday has very much migrated north and become one of Canada's biggest retail/promotional weekends.

Translation: Canadians spend three weeks being told something is "BLACK FRIDAY PRICING!!!" before Black Friday actually arrives.
