What's a hobby that looks incredibly peaceful from the outside, but is actually PURE STRESS once you get into it?

Because hobbies are supposed to help us relax. Then suddenly you're crying at 11 p.m. because your sourdough starter isn't emotionally available.
People online are sharing hobbies that look calm and wholesome until you actually try them.
Here are some of the best:
1. Bonsai
Tiny trees. Peaceful. Zen. Except keeping those tiny trees alive apparently requires a LOT of work. Nothing says relaxation like having anxiety over a four-inch tree.
2. Fish Tanks
Watching fish swim around? Very soothing. Maintaining a reef, planted or saltwater aquarium? Not so much. You basically become the unpaid superintendent of an underwater condo building.
3. Surfing
Sunshine. Ocean. Waves. What could be stressful? Apparently surfers can get surprisingly competitive and territorial. Namaste… GET OFF MY WAVE, KEVIN.
4. Beekeeping
Sounds wholesome until you realize your hobby involves maintaining a colony of thousands of tiny flying needles. And if your hive becomes too successful? Some of the bees can swarm and leave. Imagine doing everything right as a parent and 20,000 of your children move out at once.
5. Sewing, Knitting and Crocheting
Very relaxing… until people find out you can do it. Then suddenly everyone wants a homemade sweater. “Could you make me one?” Absolutely. That'll be $640 and I'll see you in February.

6. Raising Chickens
Backyard chickens look adorable on Instagram. In reality, they're tiny dinosaurs with absolutely no respect for authority. One person described chickens as basically the smartest dumb animals they've ever met.
7. Specialty Coffee
You start by buying nicer coffee beans. Six months later you own a $900 grinder, a precision scale and you're discussing water mineral content.
8. Swing Dancing
Looks fun and carefree. Then apparently it gets competitive and cliquey very quickly. Nothing ruins dancing faster than finding out Brenda has been talking about your Charleston behind your back.
9. Growing Roses
One gardener described it as “horticultural masochism.” They're beautiful, needy, covered in thorns and constantly demanding attention. Basically the dating apps of gardening.
10. Painting
Painting looks incredibly peaceful until you make one bad brush stroke and realize: THERE'S NO UNDO BUTTON. Suddenly you're Bob Ross with rage issues.
11. Rock Collecting
Finding cool rocks is fun. The problem is eventually you own 700 rocks. And now your house looks like a geological evidence locker. Congratulations. You've paid a mortgage so rocks can live indoors.
12. Telescopes and Astronomy
You think you're buying a telescope, pointing it at the sky and looking at Saturn. Apparently there's WAY more involved. Lenses. Alignment. Equipment. Weather. Light pollution.
And one person made an excellent point:
Almost ANY hobby becomes stressful once you get competitive about it.
There's a sweet spot where you're good enough to enjoy yourself but not good enough to start obsessing over being the best. Because hobbies are supposed to reduce stress.
