THINGS THAT HAVE BECOME COMPLETELY NORMAL IN THE LAST 10 YEARS... SOMEHOW πŸ€―πŸ“±

Published August 6, 2026

It's amazing how much society has changed in just a decade. Ten years ago, some of today's everyday habits would've seemed bizarre. Now? We barely even notice them.

Here are a few things that have somehow become socially acceptable almost overnight:

1. Sharing your location with everyone. πŸ“

Back in the day, if someone knew your exact location at all times, you filed a restraining order. Now, entire families track each other on apps, and parents know the precise moment their teenager pulls into the Tim Hortons drive-thru.

2. Talking to A.I. like it's a co-worker. πŸ€–

Ten years ago, artificial intelligence sounded like something that would destroy humanity in a movie. Today, millions of people casually ask it to write emails, plan vacations, and settle arguments about whether penguins have knees.

3. Cancelling plans at the last minute. πŸ›‹οΈ

Remember when bailing on your friends made you unreliable? Now, texting "Sorry, my social battery is drained" is practically considered self-care.

4. Posting your entire life online. πŸ“Έ

There are children with a bigger online presence at age six than most adults had at age thirty. Some kids have been on Instagram since before they could walk.

5. Looking at your phone during conversations. πŸ“±

We used to call this rude. Now, two people can sit across from each other at dinner, scroll silently for twenty minutes, and somehow still call it "catching up."

6. Reading only the headline. πŸ“°

Why spend five minutes reading an article when you can confidently debate the topic after glancing at the title and half a Facebook comment?

7. Letting A.I. do your homework. πŸŽ“

Students used to hide cheat sheets in their sleeves. Now they hide browser tabs and call it "research."

8. Sports betting commercials everywhere. πŸ’°

There was a time when gambling ads were rare. Today, you can't watch a hockey game without someone explaining the odds that the mascot scores in the third period.

9. Carrying an emotional-support water bottle. πŸš°

People don't just bring water bottles anymore. They bring gallon-sized containers covered in motivational stickers that weigh more than a toddler. Guests now walk into dinner parties, set down a giant stainless-steel jug and say, "No thanks, I'm good."

10. Ghosting people instead of having awkward conversations. πŸ‘»

Once upon a time, you had to actually tell someone you didn't want to hang out. Today, people simply disappear into the digital wilderness and hope you'll take the hint.

Honestly, if you went back to 2016 and told people we'd all be tracking our kids, talking to robots, cancelling plans for "mental health" and carrying around emotional-support water bottles, they'd assume you'd spent too much time on the internet.

Turns out, they would've been right. πŸŽ™οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
