50K To Make A Scarlett Johansson Robot

This guy from Hong Kong spent $50,000 to build a robot that oddly resembles actress Scarlett Johansson, but he won’t admit that he made it to look like her.

42 year old Ricky Ma, taught himself programming and electromechanics, then spent a year and a half building the robot on the balcony of his apartment.

He calls it ‘Mark 1’, and it can move its limbs, has facial expressions, and gives programmed responses when spoken to through a microphone.

Good on him for teaching himself how to build a robot, and also just for accomplishing his childhood dream of building a robot.

… but I kinda feel sorry for Scarlett, knowing that there’s a robot version of herself out in the world with some random guy at his apartment.
