Carrie Is Getting a TV Series — And Mike Flanagan Is Behind It. Consider Us Terrified (and Intrigued) 👀🩸

Amazon Prime Video is officially saying “Come to the prom…” — but maybe don’t wear anything you don’t want soaked in blood.
A brand-new Carrie series has been greenlit, with horror master Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass) serving as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. The eight-episode series, based on Stephen King’s 1974 debut novel, begins production this summer in Vancouver.

A Bloody Reimagining for a New Generation
While it nods to the classic 1976 film (which starred Sissy Spacek as the telekinetic teen and John Travolta as the guy you love to hate), this version is being billed as a “bold and timely reimagining” of Carrie White’s twisted coming-of-age story.
Here’s the new setup:
Carrie is still a sheltered outsider living under the thumb of her deeply religious mother. But in this update, she’s reeling from the sudden death of her father, navigating the chaotic jungle that is public high school, and facing a bullying scandal that shakes the community — all while her telekinetic powers start to bubble up.
So yeah... It’s going to get messy. And probably very, very bloody.
Why We’re So Hyped
Let’s be honest: Flanagan doesn’t miss when it comes to eerie, emotional horror with layered characters. If anyone can take Carrie from '70s scream queen to 2020s cult TV icon, it’s him.
Between the teen drama, the supernatural suspense, and the inevitable prom scene (you know it’s coming), this has all the makings of a binge-worthy, spine-tingling hit.
No casting has been announced just yet, but keep your eyes peeled. Something tells us this could become the show everyone’s doom-scrolling about next year.
