Experts Say You Should Be Having More Sex—Here’s Why

Published March 19, 2025

Turns out, getting busy isn’t just fun—it’s good for your health. Experts say regular sex can improve your mental and physical well-being, and skipping out on it might have serious downsides.

Not Enough People Are Getting It On

A survey by sex toy company The Handy found that nearly 1 in 5 adults aren’t having sex at all. While celibacy is a personal choice, experts warn that going too long without intimacy can lead to:
❌ Increased stress, anxiety, and irritability
❌ Restlessness, muscle tension, and trouble concentrating
❌ Lower energy levels and decreased appetite

The Health Perks of Regular Sex

On the flip side, frequent sex comes with some big benefits:
✔️ Improves heart health ❤️
✔️ Releases endorphins, lowering stress 🧘‍♀️
✔️ Boosts sleep quality 😴

And here’s the kicker—a 2023 study from the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that women who had sex less than once a week were at a higher risk of early death. The culprit?

Increased inflammation levels can damage tissues and organs. Yikes.

So, if you need a reason to make “date night” a regular thing, consider it doctor’s orders. 🩺🔥
