“Selfie” has been named the International Word Of The Year by the Oxford Dictionaries. By definition, a selfie is a “photo one has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website.” Oxford says “selfie” was chosen as the Word Of The Year, based on a 17,000-per-cent rise in its use from a year ago. Selfie beat out twerk, showrooming, bitcoin and schmeat for the title. You know words are new to the dictionary when you type them on the keyboard and the “red” line appears under them for spelling. Got me to thinking that there were a few words missing from the list…maybe for next time.

1) Sochilys – the act of already being sick of the upcoming Olympics.

2) Dunloopy – what happens to some downtown bar patrons late Friday & Saturday nights.

3) Fordie – anything done in a drunken stupor.
